Ok I understand
Is your Green Card Expired or Lost and you want to renew it or replace it?.
When you should apply for a renewal/replacement of green card depends on your case.
If you want to renew your green card because it's going to expire, then you can apply 6 months before the expiration date. If it has already expired we advise you to apply immediately because in the last couple of years the time that takes to receive your new green card has increased. If you have lost your green card you should apply immediately too.
In the past it took an average of 3 months to receive your renewed green card after you filed your green card renewal application. Nowadays it takes from 8 to 10 months, depending on the reason of your application and the state you are currently living. Some states have a bigger amount of applicants than others; therefore, the amount of time the government will take to process your renewal case will be more.
Although the time to receive your renewed green card can take up to 10 months, in just 4 weeks after you filed your application, you will receive a confirmation receipt from the government confirming the reception and the compliance of your application. You can use this receipt as a valid substitue of your green card while you wait for the renewed one. This is very useful specially if you are planning to travel outside of the USA and your green card is expired or lost.
Being a Lawful Permanent Resident with a green card that has expired or without a green card (in case you lost it or it got stolen) can cause you some disadvantages. Here we mention the most important reasons (among many others) why you should always renew or replace your green card.
1. You cannot apply for a new job: If you are a Lawful Permanent Resident and you are thinking to apply to a new job with an expired green card or without a green card the chances of not being hired are 99% despite that you may be very qualified for the job. Employers cannot legally accept applicants whose green cards are expired or applicants who don´t have a green card. So it is highly probable that an expired/lost green card will cause a disqualification to a new job opportunity.
2. Problems re-entering the United States: Lawful Permanent Residents who travel abroad and want to re-entry de U.S. are required a valid non-expired green card that proves their status as Lawful Permanent Residents. If your green card is lost or expired and you plan to re-entry the U.S. you will be required to pay a steep re-entry fee, go through significant delays or even more significant problems to re-entry the U.S. Even though the process to renew/replace a green card can take up to 5 months, in just 3 weeks after you file your application you will receive a receipt notice from the government which you can use as a valid replacement of your green card, that means that you can also use it to re-entry the U.S.
3. Driver´s license problems: You cannot apply for a driver´s license or renew it if your green card is expired or you have lost it. The DMV cannot legally grant a driver´s license to a Lawful Permanent Resident without a valid/non-expired green card.
4. Mortgage Loans problems: You cannot apply for a mortgage loan to buy a house since most mortgage lenders will require a valid non-expired green card.
5. U.S. Citizenship: One of the requirements to apply for U.S. Citizenship is to be a Lawful Permanent Resident with a valid non-expired green card. So if you are planning to apply for Naturalization and become a U.S. Citizen you must first renew/replace your green card.

Amazing service! I worked with this company and they helped me every step of the process, all the way to citizenship! If they were ever not able to answer my calls (rarely has it happened), they would always return them so promptly! Sometimes, even if it was weeekend! they always took the time to answer all of my questions and explained the process where it was unclear to me....
